UV lamps

UV lamps
UV light, short for Ultraviolet Light, is a type of light energy making up one part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which spectrum includes gamma and x-rays, UV light, visible light, infrared rays, microwaves, and radio waves, listed in order of decreasing frequency and increasing wavelength. UV light thus has a wavelength shorter than that of...

  • UV-A Actinic

    UV-A Actinic

With an optimized performance to attract most insects, Actinic BL TL, BL TLD and BL T5 lamps are the ideal choice for electronic insect killer systems. They are also suitable for photopolymerization and reprographic processes. A wide choice of wattages and a special 200-degree internal reflector version are available. In addition, Philips provides single-ended compact and T5 Actinic lamp versions as well as a circular Actinic lamp. For extra safety, there is a special shatter-proof “Secura” option which ensures that all the lamp’s glass and components are retained in a special outer sleeve in the case of accidental breakage. Hence, product designers have a high degree of flexibility in choosing the best fitting solution for their needs – including compact designs. What’s more, as a 100% lead-free and low-mercury product these lamps also provide a responsible environmental choice.

DULUX-S and PL-S, PL-L compact fluorescent lamps are used for curing plastics, sealing surfaces in dentistry and cosmetic finger nail treatments. OSRAM DULUX BLUE UVA can also be used in insect traps, as a UV light source for circuit board manufacture, in terrariums and as a fluorescence exciter for scientific investigations.

    UV-A Reprography

Offset print HPA-R UVA light bulbs - ideal for reprography and photochemical processes

Optimized for the UVA bandwidth (315 to 380 nm), HPA-R UVA lamps are ideal for a wide range of reprography and photochemical process applications. Their high radiant efficiency and high arc-stability ensure cost-efficient and reliable usage. They provide the ideal light source for contact copying of images from transparent film to UV-sensitive carriers such as film, offset plates, printed circuit boards and microfilms. These lamps are also perfectly suitable of photochemical process applications such as the UV-curing of glues, resins and pigmented lacquers.

    • Best match with UVA photo sensitizers
    • Best environmental choice
    • Spectrum is optimized for UV-A radiation
    • No ozone production
  • UV Phototherapy

    UV Phototherapy

Phototherapy uses specific wavelengths of the sun's natural spectrum for the treatment of Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Hyperbilirubin and other skin diseases.

Phototherapy involves subjecting the skin to waves of ultraviolet light. There are three types of ultraviolet light, UVA, UVB and UVC. There are treatments available using UVB light, lasers or UVA light combined with a medication called Psoralen (PUVA).Conventional Broadband UVB lamps emit light in a broad spectrum that includes both the therapeutic wavelengths specific to the treatment of skin diseases plus the shorter wavelengths which can result for sunburn. Sunburn has a negative therapeutic benefit, increases the risk of skin cancer, and limits the amount of therapeutic UVB that can be taken. Narrowband UVB lamps, on the other hand, emit light over a very short range of wavelengths concentrated primarily in the therapeutic range. UVB Narrowband is therefore safer and more effective than conventional UVB Broadband.

More than 400 independent clinical studies around the world* have shown that Philips UVB Narrowband (TL/01) Phototherapy lamps are the most effective lamps currently available for the treatment of Psoriasis and Vitiligo, as well as other less common skin diseases.

    UV-C Germicidal lamps

Radiation for sterilization – Effective and chemical-free

Radiation for sterilization requires light sources that are particularly powerful, yet kind to the environment. High-energy UV-C lamps provide the perfect solution here. The UV-C radiation moves at a wavelength range between 200 nanometers (nm) and 280 nanometers. This gives the radiation a cell-destroying effect that is ideal for highly effective sterilization of water, air and surfaces and eliminates the need for chemical products. UV-C radiation is used in a wide range of different application areas, such as sterilizing water in swimming pools, in water purification systems, pond clarifiers and water dispensers. This type of radiation is used for purifying the air in hospitals and offices as well as a range of applications in the food production industry, in animal housing and in air ducts of air-conditioning units. Surface sterilization however has become an indispensable process in the food packaging industry and laboratories.
